The Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting physicians with patient care. Responsibilities include managing patient flow, maintaining accurate medical records, assisting during examinations and procedures, gathering patient histories, scheduling follow-up appointments, and addressing patient inquiries. Additionally, this position ensures that examination rooms are sanitized, stocked, and organized after each patient visit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team to guarantee high-quality patient care and experience.
  • Maintain organization and preparedness. Ensure exam rooms are equipped with necessary supplies and that clinics operate smoothly. Prepare electronic medical records for upcoming appointments and familiarize yourself with the patient schedule.
  • Exhibit attention to detail when documenting information in electronic medical records, including billing, health histories, diagnostic reports, and treatment plans.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in clinical procedures as per clinic guidelines, including aseptic techniques, wound care, and assisting with various medical procedures.
  • Adhere to clinical protocols, behavioral standards, and operational guidelines set forth by clinic leadership.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent on-the-job training is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the healthcare field and relevant medical specialties.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Core competencies in communication, customer service, teamwork, ethics, and confidentiality.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, with the ability to travel to various locations as needed.

Physical Demands

  • The role is set in a typical medical office environment, requiring the ability to focus amidst various distractions, including staff and patient interactions.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands for extended periods. Frequent communication is necessary.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds safely and assist patients as needed.
  • Vision requirements include the ability to see close up, distinguish colors, and adjust focus.
