The Clinical Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting physicians with patient care duties. This includes managing patient flow, maintaining accurate medical records, assisting during examinations and procedures, gathering patient histories, scheduling follow-up appointments, and addressing patient inquiries. Additionally, this position is responsible for ensuring that examination rooms are properly cleaned, stocked, and organized after each patient visit.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team to deliver high-quality patient care and experiences.
- Maintain organization and preparedness by ensuring exam rooms are stocked with necessary supplies and that clinics operate smoothly (including diagnostic exams and outside reports). Prepare the Electronic Medical Record for upcoming appointments and familiarize yourself with the patient schedule.
- Exhibit attention to detail when entering information into the Electronic Medical Record, including billing, health histories, diagnostic reports, and medication orders.
- Demonstrate proficiency in accordance with clinic policies and guidelines in areas such as aseptic technique, wound care, and safety protocols.
- Adhere to clinical standards and operational expectations as set forth by clinic leadership.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or relevant on-the-job training and experience.
- Strong understanding of the healthcare field and relevant medical specialties.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- Core competencies in communication, customer service, teamwork, ethics, and confidentiality.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, with the ability to travel as needed.
Physical Requirements
- The work environment is typical of a medical office, where distractions from staff, patients, and vendors are common. The employee must effectively manage these distractions while completing tasks.
- While performing job duties, the employee may need to sit and use hands for extended periods, talk or hear for up to 8 hours a day, and frequently stand, walk, and reach.
- Regular lifting and moving of up to 25 pounds is required, along with assisting patients with mobility.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
