Job Summary

As a Benefits Administrator at DHR Health, you will be responsible for administering various employee benefit programs, including group health insurance, supplemental insurance programs, and other related benefits. You will work closely with the Supervisor to develop, recommend, and implement approved benefit plans and employee policies. Your duties will include surveying industry and community trends to determine the Hospital's competitive position in employee benefits, developing cost control procedures, and ensuring maximum coverage at the least possible cost to the organization and employees.

Responsibilities

Administer employee benefit programs, including group health insurance, supplemental insurance programs, and other related benefits.
Develop, recommend, and implement approved benefit plans and employee policies.
Survey industry and community trends to determine the Hospital's competitive position in employee benefits.
Develop cost control procedures to ensure maximum coverage at the least possible cost to the organization and employees.
Evaluate, recommend, and implement approved, new, or modified benefit plans.
Coordinate human resources procedures to initiate benefits enrollment, including medical, dental, life insurance, and supplemental insurance plans.
Provide benefit orientations, enrollments, claims processing, and self-billings of insurance.
Process and maintain all benefit status reports and benefit pay deductions, both on paper and computer, ensuring accurate changes are processed through payroll.
Assist employees in filing health, dental, life, and other related benefit claims.
Coordinate the FMLA and Leave without Pay policies by assisting employees with processing paperwork and planning for benefit continuation while on leave.
Verify calculation of the monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and maintain data relative to premiums, claims, and costs.
Resolve all administrative problems and discrepancies with carrier representatives.
Coordinate, arrange, and conduct employee annual open enrollments, orientation, and informational presentations.
Handle benefit inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolution.
Coordinate the maintenance of employee records as it relates to enrollment, application, and claims records for all benefit plans.
Assist employees regarding Employee Benefit questions according to policy and procedures.
Assist department with other duties and issues, as necessary.

Requirements

College degree in business, human resources, or related field, is strongly preferred.
Four (4) years experience in the area of benefits administration.
Must be able to be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues.
Good written and verbal communication skills required.
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians.
Prefer hospital experience.
Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing, and compliance requirements both adopted and pending affecting employee benefit programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, SECTION 125, Medicare, COBRA, and Social Security and DOL requirements.
Experience in an Acute Care setting within Employee Benefits, is preferred.
Must have effective communication skills, oral and written.
Experience in MS Word, Excel, ADP Payroll, and other applicable database programs will be helpful.
Critical thinking skills is a must, as is the ability to multi-task.
Must have excellent customer service skills.
High degree of competency/experience in general.
Requires good communication and organizational skills.
Requires reasoning ability and good independent judgment.
