Job Overview

Join Mercer Distribution and Transport LLC as a Customs Operations Administrator, where we pride ourselves on providing outstanding logistics and transportation solutions. As a vital member of our team, you will play a key role in supporting our Customs Exam Station Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate coordination with various US Customs authorities to arrange examinations.
  • Engage with brokers and consignees to gather necessary information for exam setups.
  • Organize the movement of containers to the examination site in collaboration with shipping lines and terminals.
  • Work alongside Mercer Dispatch and other transport companies to ensure timely container transfers.
  • Coordinate with chassis providers and truckers for necessary street turns.
  • Input and manage tracking information within our computer systems.
  • Maintain organized files and documentation throughout the examination process.
  • Communicate with warehouse leads to ensure smooth coordination with customs agents.
  • Notify clients of any examination-related issues and provide updates as necessary.
  • Document and store photographic evidence for our records and client communication.
  • Oversee the check-in and check-out processes for containers in the yard.
  • Manage multiple tasks within a fast-paced customs examination and logistics environment.
  • Process work orders, track customs releases, and handle customer invoicing for billing purposes.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation and payments are secured prior to container release.
  • Handle a high volume of emails and phone communications efficiently.
  • Maintain organized document storage and filing systems.
  • Exhibit flexibility in job duties and responsibilities, with opportunities for cross-training.
  • Provide general customer service, including phone support and account management.
  • Assist in monitoring truck arrivals through the designated entry points.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional communication skills for effective interaction with customers, customs officials, and team members.
  • Prior experience in customs brokerage and familiarity with US import processes is advantageous.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Thrives in a dynamic, team-focused environment.
  • Exhibits a positive attitude while ensuring timely deliveries and tracking.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree is preferred.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM.

Compensation: Competitive pay range of $21-$23 per hour.
