Role Summary:
The Warehouse Inventory Control and Customer Service Administrator is responsible for overseeing the company's inventory management processes. This includes conducting inventory audits, performing cycle counts, and ensuring the quality of outbound shipments. The role also encompasses customer service responsibilities within the fulfillment and container freight station warehouse, with duties divided evenly between inventory control and customer service tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Master the company's Warehouse Management System (WMS) to enhance operational efficiency.
- Conduct inventory counts and collaborate with Customer Service Representatives to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Analyze inventory data against historical records, including inbound and outbound shipments.
- Coordinate with warehouse teams to ensure accurate data entry and provide training on system protocols, while working with IT for system enhancements.
- Cross-verify computer data with physical inventory counts and address discrepancies as needed.
- Perform quality checks on orders prior to labeling for accuracy.
- Ensure labels on cartons are correct in terms of item numbers and placement.
- Report cycle count outcomes to management for review.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the warehouse environment.
- Assist with various projects and tasks as required.
- Manage multiple responsibilities within a fast-paced transportation and fulfillment setting.
- Handle documentation for customer communications via email or fax.
- Gather necessary paperwork for billing accounts.
- Verify freight and warehouse locations as needed.
- Facilitate driver check-ins and manage shipment releases.
- Provide general customer service, including responding to inquiries and managing accounts.
- Ensure accurate product shipments are dispatched on the correct vehicles.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with warehouse personnel, customers, and management.
- Prior experience in inventory management and cycle counting.
- Proficient in basic mathematical calculations.
- Familiarity with MS Outlook and Excel.
- Excellent organizational and clerical skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently.
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a dynamic environment.
- Positive attitude and commitment to timely deliveries and load tracking.
- Experience with Customs examination stations and bonded warehouses is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Cargo Manager and US Customs ABI is preferred.
- Knowledge of US Customs entry and release protocols.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access.
- Understanding of general inventory practices.
- High school diploma or equivalent; an Associate's degree is preferred.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
- Experience with computerized inventory systems in a warehouse setting is essential.
- A minimum of one year of cycle counting experience is required.
- Forklift and/or reach lift certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and navigate the warehouse, including lifting, climbing, bending, and reaching for items.
- Frequent operation of forklifts and/or reach lifts.
- Comfortable working at heights.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds without assistance.
