Position SummaryTo provide proficient nursing care for an individual or a group of patients and to provide supervisory oversight for the clinical and administrative staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Uses advanced nursing knowledge and the nursing process to:
- Assess factors of the patient's past and present physical, psychosocial, and cultural baseline, health problems, and external support systems which may impact his/her ability to cope with the current health situation.
- Define a nursing problem list, based on the assessment of the patient, that reflects the consideration of the medical diagnosis and the patient's problems,
- Develop and individualize a plan of care that is directed toward the optimal resolution of nursing diagnoses and prevention of future problems.
- Evaluates and document a patient's progress toward goals.
- Collaborates with the health care team in the implementation and revision of a comprehensive plan of care and/or goals as necessary.
- Implement appropriate patient education programs to meet individual healthcare needs.
- Assist physicians with day-to-day patient care.
- Overseeing and ensuring the functioning of patient scheduling and triage systems, as well as outpatient clinic flow.
- Anticipating patient care or staff problems that may arise and initiating preventative measures by evaluating staffing requirements and patient needs when in charge of the unit during specified work periods.
- Supervises all clinical and administrative staff in planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care.
- Education: Associate's degree in Nursing or higher, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Licensure: Current and valid D.C. Licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience, including supervisory skills.
- Sit, walk, reach, bend, or twist for long periods of time in an office setting.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 20 lbs. as part of the role.
- Regularly exposed to healthcare settings that may require personal protective equipment.
- Requires manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, calculator, copier machine, and other equipment.
