We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate individual to join our team as an Operations Support Specialist at the State of Oregon. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for Oregonians seeking services from our agency programs and resources.
Key Responsibilities- Greet and assist Oregonians with a trauma-informed approach, providing a welcoming environment for families interacting with the department.
- Work with Oregonians who are applying for programs such as medical, cash for families (TANF), Domestic Violence services, food benefits (SNAP), childcare assistance (ERDC), and long-term care services in-person, by phone and via our online applicant portal to answer case status and other inquiries; provide information on how to access community resources.
- Collaborate with a team to rotate tasks and support the business needs of the office.
- Two years of experience either interviewing to obtain personal or technical information or substantial people contact, with a high volume of paperwork involved.
- College-level courses may be substituted for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Trauma-informed approach: Experience recognizing symptoms and behaviors that originate from adapting to traumatic responses, with a commitment to minimizing re-traumatization or replicating prior trauma dynamics.
- Results-oriented: Demonstrated ability to complete tasks, duties, projects, and obligations with deadlines, producing high-quality results.
- Communication: Experience adapting communication style to explain complex information such as rules or procedures verbally and in writing to diverse audiences.
- Commitment to team: Experience developing meaningful relationships with colleagues that foster trust, inclusivity, and respect.
- Critical thinker: An avid learner with demonstrated experience applying lessons-learned to varying environments and situations.
- De-escalation: Experience identifying peaceful resolutions to disputes or perceived disputes, viewing conflict as an opportunity to find common ground and foster cooperation.
- Work schedule is 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Monday – Friday on-site at the NE Salem ODHS branch office.
- Experience constant contact with the public, including contact with customers experiencing emotional and financial stress.
- Experience high volume of computer work, using various computer programs in a fast-paced team environment.
- Priorities and procedures may change daily, requiring the ability to be flexible in application of procedures.
