The Materials Coordinator - Expeditor will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth flow of materials, parts, and assemblies between sections or departments, according to production and shipping schedules or department priorities.
This position will be responsible for coordinating and expediting the flow of materials, parts, and assemblies, compiling and maintaining manual or computerized records, and reviewing production schedules and related information to determine material requirements.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of product and manufacturing processes, excellent organizational and time management skills, and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and expedite the flow of materials, parts, and assemblies between sections or departments
- Compile and maintain manual or computerized records
- Review production schedules and related information to determine material requirements
- Requisition material and establish sequential delivery dates to departments
- Examine material delivered to production departments to verify conformance to specifications
- Arrange in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules
- Compute amount of material required to complete job orders, applying knowledge of product and manufacturing processes
- Compile and maintain manual or computerized records, such as material inventory, in-process production reports, and status and location of materials
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED and 4+ years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated proficiency to coordinate orders, schedules, and resolve problems with some guidance
- Ability to interact and communicate professionally and effectively with both operational and high-level customer contacts, vendors, and multi-functional teams with some guidance
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Proven organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Ability to make smart decisions quickly, exercise discretion, and use experience, common sense, and judgment to solve complex issues and problems with some guidance
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail
- Exceptionally high degree of customer focus
- Ability to analyze and adjust work procedures to achieve maximum efficiency
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and WMS experience
Physical/Cognitive Requirements:
- Ability to follow policies and procedures
- Ability to read, write, and interpret information
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- Ability to sit, walk, or stand for up to 10 hours per day
- Ability to intermittently crawl, squat, climb, twist, bend, stoop, push, or pull
- Must possess visual acuity, i.e., close, distance, and color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to lift/carry items less than 50 pounds
