WSP is excited to announce an opening for a Full-Time Junior Geotechnical Engineer. Join our dynamic team in the geotechnical sector, where you will engage in a variety of projects that encompass mining, heavy civil, and geotechnical engineering. Your Contributions

  • Collaborate with our mine waste team on engineering projects related to the mining sector, with potential involvement in diverse industries.
  • Execute engineering responsibilities, including:
  • Site and material assessment
  • Design of facilities, focusing on grading, storage capacity, and construction evaluations
  • Conducting slope stability, seepage, consolidation, liner system, and settlement evaluations
  • Designing and analyzing surface water management facilities
  • Drafting sections of technical documentation that detail field and laboratory studies, engineering evaluations, and facility designs
  • Assisting in the creation of project design packages, which include technical drawings, specifications, engineering calculations, timelines, and cost projections
  • Undertaking domestic and international fieldwork, such as geotechnical assessments and construction oversight
  • Producing thorough, precise, and clear documentation utilizing electronic systems, drawings, and field notebooks
  • Adhering to safety protocols and site-specific guidelines, which encompass location data, statistical documentation, engineering studies, and construction practices
  • Completing training on assigned tasks to enhance skills and knowledge
  • Demonstrating responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company resources and conduct, in line with WSP's Code of Conduct and policies
  • Taking on additional responsibilities as needed to support business objectives

Who You Are

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • 0 to 1 year of relevant experience post-education.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or the ability to pass the exam within 6 months of employment.
  • Strong research abilities coupled with an analytical mindset.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, capable of conveying ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Self-motivated with a keen attention to detail, adept at multitasking and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team to achieve business goals.
  • Basic proficiency in technical writing, office software, spreadsheets, and relevant tools.
  • Proven commitment to workplace safety and adherence to WSP's health, safety, and drug/alcohol policies.
  • Flexibility to work hours that align with project requirements, which may occasionally extend beyond standard work hours.
  • Willingness to travel as needed based on project demands.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Master’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Prior internship experience relevant to the field of study and engineering discipline.
  • Active participation in local professional organizations.
