GENERAL OVERVIEW:

As a Senior Financial Planning Analyst, you will engage in sophisticated budget formulation and analytical tasks. This role encompasses the management of budgetary processes, ensuring the organization and evaluation of financial performance metrics. Your responsibilities will include comprehensive research and data collection, alongside the design and preparation of detailed reports. You will analyze diverse data elements to develop forecasts and identify trends, prepare insightful reports, and address inquiries, while also recommending actions to mitigate any identified issues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Collect, evaluate, interpret, and present budgetary data.
  2. Examine spending trends and provide recommendations based on thorough research, while guiding other analysts in budget preparation and leading significant projects.
  3. Facilitate communication and coordination of work requests with relevant stakeholders.
  4. Supervise and assist in the collection and compilation of data for external reporting, including the Legislative Appropriations Request (LAR) and performance metrics.
  5. Monitor the progress of the General Appropriations Act (GAA) and prepare informative updates for executive management regarding legislative activities.
  6. Oversee and contribute to monthly budget expenditure forecasting and cash analysis, ensuring reconciliation of unspent balances.
  7. Generate and/or review monthly budget reports that reflect the financial status of the department, to be presented in required meetings.
  8. Participate in executive meetings and serve on internal committees as assigned.
  9. Assist in the preparation of the Operating Budget for the executive office.
  10. Maintain regular attendance and adhere to agency policies regarding work hours.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: A high school diploma is required, with a preference for candidates holding a degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience: A minimum of three years of relevant experience in accounting, budget analysis, or financial management is required. Additional education may substitute for experience.

Licensure: A valid driver’s license from your state of residence is necessary.

Knowledge Requirements: Proficiency in financial administration, budget control, and governmental accounting principles is essential.

Skills: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders are crucial for success in this role.

TECHNOLOGICAL PROFICIENCY: Familiarity with Microsoft Office and relevant financial software is expected.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Willingness to work flexible hours and travel as needed.
