Role Overview

We are in search of experienced Staff Process Engineers to enhance our elite Cathode Process team. This team is pivotal in the design, development, and scaling of innovative electrode manufacturing processes for our multi-day iron-air battery technology.

As a Staff Process Engineer, your role will directly influence the design and operational efficiency of the equipment used in Cathode production. You will be responsible for developing and executing trials, analyzing data, and determining critical process inputs to optimize new processes and scale production effectively. Additionally, you will oversee the automation of quality assurance and verification standards. Your proficiency in process scaling and rapid problem-solving will be invaluable in our dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the Manufacturing Equipment Team to design, construct, install, and operate pioneering manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure safety is prioritized while transitioning initial process designs to full-scale production.
  • Establish and implement metrics, utilizing quality data to define optimal process parameters.
  • Lead process trials and make informed, data-driven decisions to enhance quality and scale production in real-time.
  • Commission and manage innovative processes in a fast-paced manufacturing setting, including acceptance testing under tight deadlines.
  • Act as a technical lead, working with diverse teams within and outside the organization to achieve significant manufacturing milestones.
  • Provide mentorship and support to team members, leveraging your expertise and practical experience.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in a high-paced manufacturing or production environment, preferably in New Product Introduction (NPI) or scale-up.
  • Expertise in medium to large-scale equipment with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong background in statistical methods for process development decisions, utilizing tools such as JMP or Minitab.
  • Proven track record of owning manufacturing processes and being accountable for their quality and success.
  • Experience with PFMEAs, factory acceptance testing, and process validation.
  • Ability to create standards for process, safety, and quality documentation, coupled with excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Direct experience with roll-to-roll manufacturing, lamination, calendaring, adhesion, epoxy, plastic welding, or powder handling is essential.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
