Regular collaboration with the Medical Director and Corporate Director of Physician Services is essential to enhance Hospital Medicine services for CAMC and its patients, focusing on Evidence-Based Care.
Key Responsibilities- The Lead Advanced Practice Professional will, under appropriate supervision from a Physician, support the Physician's data collection efforts to aid in clinical decision-making and the development of care plans for patients. A Physician Assistant must possess the knowledge and skills to perform the following functions, which are not exhaustive: Assess patients to determine the necessity for medical intervention. Review patient histories to evaluate health conditions. Conduct patient interviews. Document relevant patient information. Make informed decisions regarding data collection and management strategies for initial evaluations or follow-up assessments of established conditions. Prepare patient summaries. Initiate requests for standard laboratory and imaging studies. Identify normal and abnormal findings from patient histories, physical examinations, and laboratory results. Implement appropriate evaluations and emergency responses for critical situations, such as cardiac arrest or respiratory distress. Assist and perform assigned tasks following sound medical judgment and departmental protocols. Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, medical terminology, and abbreviations. Adhere to all departmental pay practices and scheduling policies, including overtime and various shift requirements.
- Additional Responsibilities of Lead Advanced Practice Professional for
Emergency Department:
Collaborate with the Site Director to enhance the workflow of mid-level practitioners, aiming to improve the efficiency of the Emergency Department.
Coordinate weekly responsibilities for APPs as necessary. Assist in the recruitment and retention of new APPs, providing orientation and training for newcomers. Offer additional training and education for APPs as required.
Support the oversight of annual licensure and credentialing requirements for APPs. Aid the Site Director in maintaining competencies according to CAMC standards.
Ensure that all mid-level practitioners in the department uphold educational and competency standards. Oversee the accuracy of clinical documentation by APPs in the electronic medical record system. Ensure the integrity of clinical documentation related to Evidence-Based Care for Emergency Department patients. Assist the Program Assistant with accurate time reporting for APPs for payroll purposes. Ensure effective communication of information from committees, workgroups, and projects to all department members. Aid in maintaining the accuracy of clinical documentation by mid-level practitioners in the electronic medical record.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Patient Group Knowledge (Applicable to positions with direct patient interaction): The employee must acquire and demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment, or care as defined by the department's specified patient age groups.
Competency Statement: Must demonstrate competency through initial orientation and ongoing validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as outlined in the job description and the specific competency checklist for the unit/department.
Common Duties and Responsibilities (Essential duties applicable to all positions): 1. Maintain and document all required educational qualifications. 2. Exhibit positive customer service and collaborative relations with colleagues. 3. Adhere to the company's attendance policies. 4. Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives within the department and organization. 5. Conduct work in a cost-effective manner. 6.Perform duties in accordance with all departmental pay practices and scheduling policies, including but not limited to, overtime, various shifts, and on-call requirements.7.
Align work with the overall mission and strategic objectives of the organization. 8. Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures as applicable. 9. Undertake related duties as assigned.Educational Requirements
- Master's Degree (Required)
Experience: 1 Year Experience in CAMC's Hospital Medicine program. Substitution: Formalized training as a PA may substitute for a master's degree in nursing. Note: All candidates must be approved through the credentialing process with Medical Affairs prior to commencing this position.
