Job Summary

Under the supervision of a physician, the Hospitalist Lead Advanced Practice Professional manages the care of patients through the performance of a wide variety of health care services, including patient care tasks, diagnostic procedures, and therapeutic procedures. This role oversees daily duties of Hospitalist Advanced Practice Professionals, assists with block scheduling, and coordinates daily assignments.

Responsibilities
  • The Hospitalist Lead Advanced Practice Professional shall, under appropriate direction and supervision by a physician, augment the physician's data gathering abilities to assist in reaching decisions and instituting care plans for patients. This includes screening patients to determine need for medical attention, reviewing patient records, taking patient histories, recording pertinent patient data, and making decisions regarding data gathering and management of patients.
  • The Hospitalist Lead Advanced Practice Professional will work in accordance with the Medical Director, Hospitalist Site Director, Corporate Director of Physician Services, and Nurse Managers to improve workflow pertaining to APPs and optimize patient flow through the hospital system. This includes generating block schedules, coordinating APP PTO requests, and facilitating contingencies for unscheduled call-ins.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The Hospitalist Lead Advanced Practice Professional must possess and demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment, or care. This includes obtaining and interpreting patient information, knowledge of growth and development, and understanding of treatment needs.

  • Perform work in accordance with departmental pay practices and scheduling policies.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Education
  • Post Graduate Diploma or Certificate Program (Required).
Credentials
  • Advance Practice Nurse Practitioner.
  • Physician Assistant, Licensed.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Required) within 1 year of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (Required) within 30 days of hire.
