Big Bend Community College (BBCC) is a rural institution dedicated to serving diverse and culturally vibrant communities in Central Washington. We are currently seeking an Academic Advisor for our esteemed TRiO Upward Bound Department.
This is a full-time, grant-supported, 12-month role within our distinguished Upward Bound Program, a federal initiative funded by the U.S. Department of Education aimed at empowering first-generation and low-income students to acquire the necessary skills for successful college enrollment.
Since its inception in 1967, BBCC has proudly operated the TRIO Upward Bound program, making it the longest-standing initiative of its kind in Washington State. Each year, we positively influence the lives of 115 high school students from various local schools.
As an Academic Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in providing essential academic and personal guidance to our participants throughout the year. Your support will be instrumental in helping them successfully complete their high school education and embark on their journey toward obtaining a two or four-year college degree.
Key Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Traveling to designated high schools weekly during the academic year to deliver direct support to students.
- Actively promoting the program's services to target schools, communities, and potential stakeholders.
- Building strong collaborative relationships with school administrators and staff.
