Associate Faculty Position

We are seeking a highly qualified Associate Faculty member to join our team at Big Bend Community College. As an Associate Faculty, you will have the opportunity to teach nutrition courses and contribute to the academic success of our students.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching assigned courses in accordance with the Master Course Outline and in consultation with a full-time faculty member. You will also be expected to utilize best practices for teaching nutrition, engaging and motivating students to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare and teach assigned courses in accordance with the Master Course Outline and in consultation with a full-time faculty member.
- Utilize best practices for teaching nutrition, engaging and motivating students to succeed.
- Meet the class times as required by the quarterly schedule and assist students as needed with questions related to the course(s) being taught.
- Utilize Canvas, the learning management system at BBCC, to provide students access to course materials and the course gradebook.
- Support students' academic success by maintaining regular office hour(s) and referring students to appropriate college resources as needed.
- Foster a flexible, healthy learning environment with respect for student diversity.
- Maintain positive and effective communications with students.
- Assist students with questions related to the course(s) being taught.
- Maintain and submit grades and attendance reports to college personnel when required.
- Maintain student course materials for two (2) quarters beyond the quarter of attendance.
- Submit assessment data in consultation with a full-time faculty member in the department.
- Assist with development, selection, and/or recommend selection of instructional materials for courses being taught.
- Master's degree in Nutrition or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.
- Experience working with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ability, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Relevant teaching at the post-secondary level or professional clinical experience within the last five (5) years.
- Ability to teach in-person sections at Big Bend Community College.
- Experience implementing strategies to improve student success and retention.
- Experience with online learning, hybrid courses, learning management systems (LMS), video conferencing, and other applications for instructional purposes.
- Bilingual Spanish/English proficiency.
