Job Summary

Touro University New York invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Biochemistry. As an Associate Director of Biochemistry Education, you will play a key role in shaping the educational experience of our students.

Responsibilities
  • Course Planning and Organization: Direct campus course planning and organization, ensuring a seamless learning experience for our students.
  • Syllabus Development: Develop a detailed course syllabus that meets the university's standards and is prepared according to the Touro University New York syllabus template.
  • Lecture Preparation: Prepare and record a lecture series according to established university policies and procedures.
  • Course Materials: Ensure that materials such as lecture videos, lecture notes, PowerPoint presentations, and cases have been completed, properly edited for content/grammatical errors, and posted to the students in a timely fashion.
  • Course Evaluation: Contribute to the course evaluation process, ensuring that our students receive a high-quality education.
  • Faculty Management: Assist in overseeing the budget of adjunct faculty and other resources, ensuring that spending is within agreed budget.
  • Adjunct Faculty Management: Recommend individual adjunct faculty for employment/course participation to the Associate Chair.
  • Training and Assessment: Organize and execute the training scheduling and assessment of adjunct faculty.
  • Performance Oversight: Oversee and direct the performance of adjunct faculty.
  • Course Management: Collaborate with Course Director and Associate Course Directors on course management, including course updates, lecture development, exam preparation, and review.
  • Student Support: Advise students on questions about course materials and course administration, referring students to the appropriate person for content questions.
  • Committee Assignments: Fulfill committee assignments as assigned by the Campus Dean.
  • Interviews: Participate in interviews as assigned by the Campus Dean.
  • Faculty Development: Satisfactory completion of faculty development and responsibilities according to annual goals established between faculty and chair.
  • Student Advising: Participate in student advising and provide guidance to the students of Touro University New York.
Qualifications
  • Education/Experience: A doctoral, first professional, terminal degree or professional equivalent and 3-5 years experience in teaching and academic leadership in a medical education setting.
  • Knowledge/ Skills/Abilities: Proficiency in leadership, personnel management and team building, financial management, relevant content expertise, research techniques, instructional design/delivery/assessment, course management, and public speaking.
  • Communication: Effective written and oral communication and conflict management.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills supporting the proficient use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Excel, as well as software used to prepare and administer written exams electronically.
