About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Reporting Manager to join our team at Sierra Space Corporation. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for analyzing financial information, preparing financial reports, and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare internal and external financial statements using Workiva, and prepare or review supplemental schedules and analyses.
  • Coordinate, assist and respond to the external auditors in their reviews of the quarterly financial statements and year-end audits.
  • Assist the General Ledger team with the monthly close process including preparation or review of journal entries, lease accounting, trend analysis, and account reconciliations.
  • Research, document and communicate new accounting and reporting developments relevant to the company and address ad-hoc technical accounting queries.
  • Take the lead on special projects within the accounting function, researching issues and proposing potential solutions and alternatives, discussing with key stakeholders, and ultimately contributing to improved accounting processes.
  • Review new vendor contracts on a quarterly basis to identify any unusual accounting impacts and confirm accounting treatment.
  • Assist with the establishment, documentation, and maintenance of company accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Assist with various SOX compliance initiatives including key reports testing, SOC1 report reviews, and control deficiency remediation.
  • Provide ad-hoc financial support for information requests and company projects.

Requirements:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field of study (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP.
  • Proven leadership abilities inclusive of successfu change management, mentoring, career development, training, succession planning, holding people accountable, and conducting yearly reviews.
  • Ability to draft technical accounting memos.
  • Ability to assess the accounting for complex transactions through technical research.
