At McAllister Towing, we are seeking a highly skilled Dispatcher - Navigation Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our operations department, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of maritime operations. Your primary focus will be on coordinating navigation activities, ensuring that all vessels and tugs are safely and efficiently moved throughout the waterways.
Responsibilities:- Coordinate with management, shipping agents, and reporting agencies to gather information and schedules for shipping activity.
- Operate electronic communication systems and equipment, including two-way radios, telephone systems, fax machines, and computers.
- Maintain communications with agents, ships, pilots, terminals, and boat crews to complete ship movements, barge loading, and discharging.
- Assign tugs and crews accordingly, evaluating available equipment and personnel in light of job requirements.
- Act as a company representative and receive and process communications and orders from the U.S. Coast Guard.
- Oversee services performed by tug/barge crews to ensure efficient and professional work.
- Update and monitor database systems with shipping and pilot activity.
- Document activities by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
Requirements:
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Valid TWIC card and ability to operate radios on correct frequencies.
