BAE Systems is seeking a skilled FPGA Development Lead with a strong technical background and leadership experience to oversee a team of FPGA Designers and Design Verification engineers. The role involves managing complex problems, collaborating effectively, and meeting program commitments. As an FPGA Development Lead, you will guide the team in architectural decisions, design scope, quality control, and implementation while ensuring adherence to engineering best practices. Your business acumen will help the team collaborate across disciplines, focus on deliverables, and manage scope and costs efficiently. This role involves a hybrid work format, combining collaborative and independent work onsite and remotely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of FPGA Designers and Design Verification engineers in delivering complex FPGA-centric designs
  • Manage complex problems, collaborate effectively, and meet program commitments
  • Guide the team in architectural decisions, design scope, quality control, and implementation
  • Ensure adherence to engineering best practices and industry standards
  • Collaborate across disciplines, focus on deliverables, and manage scope and costs efficiently

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree in EE/ECE
  • Current Security Clearance (Secret or higher) or eligible to obtain one
  • Proven experience leading engineering design teams in delivering complex FPGA-centric designs
  • Proficient in schedule planning, staffing, cost management, and risk assessment
  • Ability to quickly identify and mitigate events impacting project metrics
  • Flexibility in managing dynamic environments and technical challenges
  • Mentorship skills for team development
  • Deep understanding of FPGA architecture and design principles
  • Proficient in VHDL or Verilog HDL coding
  • Experience with FPGA design stages including RTL design, verification, synthesis, timing analysis, lab validation
  • Skills in Xilinx Vivado/ISE or Altera Quartus
  • Proficiency in MS-Project, MS-Word, MS-Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in EE/ECE or technical MBA with 10+ years of experience
  • Matlab and DSP fundamentals experience
  • Software development skills (C/C++)
  • Scripting skills in Perl, Python, bash, Tcl
  • Knowledge of Design Verification methodologies like UVM/OVM
  • Experience with Earned Value Management and DoD projects
