Job Summary

The Vice President of Perioperative Services is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and operational performance of perioperative services across the VCU Health system. This role requires a seasoned executive with a strong background in healthcare management, leadership, and operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to improve operational performance, quality, and patient satisfaction in perioperative services.
  • Lead and manage a team of directors and managers responsible for perioperative services, including surgical services, anesthesia, and perioperative nursing.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards for perioperative services.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and VCU Health policies and procedures.
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for perioperative services.
  • Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety initiatives, and process improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and coordination of perioperative services.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements to ensure VCU Health remains a leader in perioperative services.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in healthcare management, leadership, and operations, with a strong background in perioperative services.
  • Proven track record of success in improving operational performance, quality, and patient satisfaction in perioperative services.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of directors and managers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with senior leadership, physicians, nurses, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong focus on patient safety and quality.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in nursing administration (NE-BC, NEA-BC, CENP) or related field.
  • Experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center (Adult/Pediatric) or similar environment.
  • Previous experience with American Burn Association (ABA), Burn Center Verification.
  • Previous leadership experience designing and opening a new hospital, Ambulatory Surgery Centers, and/or healthcare facility.
