Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team as an MDS Coordinator in a skilled nursing setting. As an MDS Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality of care for our residents while also optimizing reimbursement and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage the development, maintenance, and implementation of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) requirements and standards of nursing practice.
  • Work closely with clinical staff and therapy teams to ensure proper documentation and care planning for skilled residents.
  • Research and analyze medical information and diagnoses to optimize reimbursement and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Meet regulatory requirements for timely certifications and re-certifications, and sign all orders as necessary.
  • Participate in daily meetings with therapy and line staff to discuss progress and address concerns.
  • Monitor and audit MDS documents for accuracy and completeness, and provide education and training as needed.
  • Oversee and schedule resident care planning meetings, and assist with on-call and manager-on-duty responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • Training in Medical Records regulations desired.
  • Understanding of diagnosis coding and working knowledge of prescription drugs, therapy practices, and bio-psycho-social sciences.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
  • Ability to meet or exceed the company's attendance and punctuality standards.
  • Ability to use Electronic Records and miscellaneous software and office equipment.
