In the role of Senior Plumbing Engineer/Designer, you'll be responsible for managing the plumbing aspects of complex projects.

You'll independently evaluate, select, and apply standard and advanced engineering techniques and procedures to make decisions on a broad range of plumbing engineering issues.

You'll take ownership of all aspects of the work, including drawings and specifications, meeting schedules and budgets, and directing assigned staff.

You'll meet with clients and contractors, program, conceptualize, and design complex systems and projects, interpret engineering data for designers and drafters, and monitor the schedule and budgets for your project.

You'll review and summarize applicable codes and record them for inclusion in the design record, establish contact with the client or their representative, and visit projects as requested by the Construction Services Department or as contractually required.

You'll check contract documents and shop drawings, answer requests for information, prepare periodic project status reports, and ensure the Construction Services Department is familiar with the project's characteristics.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical emphasis, a minimum of 10 years of experience in plumbing system design, a Professional Engineers license, Mechanical or Certified Plumbing Design (CPD) Certification, and thorough knowledge of applicable building and NFPA Codes pertaining to plumbing systems.

You'll take ownership of assignments, work independently and as part of a large project team, and have experience using MS Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, manufacturer selection software, and Revit MEP.

Healthcare, Science and Technology, and/or Civic facilities experience is desired, and Medical Gas Certification (ASSE 6060 or similar) is strongly preferred.

Fire protection systems design experience, including wet, dry, and specialty systems, is a plus, and preference is given to local candidates.
