Job Summary

We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Plumbing Engineer/Designer to join our team. As a key member of our plumbing design team, you'll be responsible for managing complex plumbing projects, evaluating and applying engineering techniques, and collaborating with clients and contractors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the plumbing portions of complex projects, ensuring timely and budget-friendly completion.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard and advanced engineering techniques to make informed decisions on plumbing engineering issues.
  • Take ownership of all aspects of the work, including drawings, specifications, schedules, and budgets, and direct assigned staff.
  • Meet with clients and contractors to discuss project progress and requirements.
  • Program, conceptualize, and design complex systems and projects, developing the basic approach to working drawings.
  • Interpret engineering data for designers and drafters, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor project schedules and budgets, and review and summarize applicable codes for inclusion in the design record.
  • Establish contact with clients and contractors to ensure continuity and integrity of information.
  • Visit project sites as required, coordinating work with other disciplines and consultants.
  • Check contract documents and shop drawings, and answer requests for information.
  • Prepare periodic project status reports for review by the Project Manager and Department Director.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical emphasis.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in plumbing system design, including code review and interpretation.
  • Professional Engineers license, Mechanical or Certified Plumbing Design (CPD) Certification.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable building and NFPA Codes pertaining to plumbing systems.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a large project team.
  • Strong motivation, organization, and professional initiative.
  • Computer experience using MS Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, and manufacturer selection software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in healthcare, science, and technology, and/or civic facilities.
  • Interest in sustainable design/LEED.
  • Revit MEP experience.
  • Commercial/institutional experience in healthcare.
  • Medical Gas Certification (ASSE 6060 or similar).
  • Fire protection systems design experience, including wet, dry, and specialty systems.
