Job Summary

We're seeking a Senior Plumbing Engineer/Designer to join our team. As a key member of our plumbing engineering team, you'll be responsible for managing complex projects, evaluating and applying engineering techniques, and collaborating with clients and contractors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage plumbing portions of complex projects
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard and advanced engineering techniques and procedures
  • Take responsibility for drawings, specifications, meeting schedules, and budgets
  • Meet with clients and contractors to discuss project details
  • Program, conceptualize, and design complex systems and projects
  • Develop the basic approach to working drawings
  • Interpret engineering data for designers and drafters
  • Check drawings for accuracy and completeness
  • Monitor project schedules and budgets
  • Review and summarize applicable codes and record them for inclusion in the design record
  • Establish contact with clients and ensure continuity of information
  • Visit project sites as requested by the Construction Services Department
  • Coordinate work with other disciplines and consultants
  • Check contract documents and shop drawings, and answer requests for information
  • Prepare periodic project status reports
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with mechanical emphasis
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in plumbing system design, including code review and interpretation
  • Professional Engineers license, Mechanical or Certified Plumbing Design (CPD) Certification
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable building and NFPA Codes pertaining to plumbing systems
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a large project team
  • Strongly motivated, well-organized, and showing professional initiative
  • Computer experience using MS Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, manufacturer selection software
  • Attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture
Preferred Qualifications
  • Healthcare, Science and Technology, and/or Civic facilities experience
  • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED
  • Revit MEP experience
  • Commercial/institutional experience in healthcare
  • Medical Gas Certification (ASSE 6060 or similar)
