Position Overview:

The Yard Jockey plays a crucial role in supporting operations within a busy trailer yard, undertaking various responsibilities including the operation of a spotter truck. This position reports to the Warehouse Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safe operational condition of vehicles and equipment before and after use.
  • Conduct inspections of vehicles and equipment seals.
  • Collaborate with dispatch and warehouse personnel to communicate, sequence, and coordinate movements.
  • Safely operate material handling equipment for loading and unloading materials, ensuring proper closure of trailers as necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Uphold the accuracy and integrity of the trailer yard through careful attention to detail and regular audits.
  • Be accountable for food safety, quality, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Report any actual or potential food safety concerns to management.
  • Adhere to all SQF requirements relevant to the position.
  • Work with supervision to address food safety and quality issues within the scope of work.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid "Class-C" Driver's License required.
  • One year of experience as a yard jockey operator required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the food and beverage industry is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment is advantageous.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Proven organizational capabilities.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

This position necessitates sufficient physical ability to operate in a typical office environment, drive a vehicle, and occasionally work in the field.

Frequent Activities: Sitting, neck flexion, fine finger dexterity, keyboard and mouse usage, walking, standing, bending, and moderate lifting.

Occasional Activities: Squatting, kneeling, reaching, and lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

Vision: Ability to see within the normal visual range, with or without correction.

Hearing: Ability to hear within the normal audio range, with or without correction.
