Job Overview

Summary/Purpose

Summit Academy OIC is in search of a Training Manager focused on Business Solutions, specifically within the IT and Finance sectors. This role is pivotal in overseeing all facets of accredited training programs, with the ultimate aim of facilitating the placement of graduates into sustainable employment. The Training Manager will provide leadership across the training lifecycle, which includes: 1) ensuring that the curriculum meets and surpasses accreditation benchmarks; 2) fostering an engaging learning atmosphere utilizing best practices in adult education methodologies; 3) leading the Occupational Advisory Councils (OAC) in collaboration with industry partners; 4) integrating technology into the student learning journey in partnership with IT solutions; and 5) managing the performance and administrative aspects of the training programs.

Crucial to this position is the ability to enhance employer engagement throughout the training process. This encompasses classroom facilitation, organizing panel discussions, hosting Q&A sessions, and discovering innovative methods to strengthen networking opportunities between students and employers. Furthermore, the Business Solutions Training Manager will identify synergies between the IT and Finance sectors, working with employers to pinpoint new entry-level roles that do not necessitate a degree.

Curriculum Development Leadership

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to create and refine course content, utilizing current industry trends and technologies.
  • Ensure curriculum alignment with industry-recognized credentials, implementing strategies to support student success in obtaining certifications such as CompTIA A+ (IT) and Security Industry Essentials (Financial Services).
  • Engage with Summit's industry-informed instructors to continuously evaluate curriculum relevance and review lesson plans to ensure compliance with quality standards and best practices in training delivery.

High-Engagement Instruction

  • Establish instructional best practices both in and out of the classroom, ensuring all instructors deliver culturally responsive, engaging instruction that incorporates diverse teaching methodologies.
  • Maximize real-world learning opportunities through case studies, utilizing the Virtual Reality (VR) lab in instruction, and promoting project- and team-based learning.
  • Involve industry professionals and employers in the classroom regularly to enhance opportunities for students to build professional networks.
  • Conduct weekly training meetings with instructional and student support staff to review student performance, retention, and address any necessary support for learning.

Training Evaluation and Performance Management

  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of training programs through evaluations, feedback mechanisms, and performance metrics, collaborating with the internal evaluation team for assistance.
  • Ensure consistency and quality in training delivery by incorporating rubrics to evaluate curriculum and instructional quality, coordinating classroom observations and other assessment tools.
  • Conduct focus groups with enrolled students to gather structured and unstructured feedback to promote continuous improvement and proactively identify opportunities and challenges.
  • Review training reports (e.g., weekly retention reports) regularly and communicate findings with the instructional team to address and resolve issues.
  • Prepare regular reports and dashboards summarizing key metrics and outcomes of training programs, analyzing data to evaluate program impact and recommend enhancements.

Supervision and Administration

  • Manage instructor and team performance by setting clear expectations and documenting goals and outcomes.
  • Identify individual and team performance needs, including professional development, fostering a culture that supports student success.
  • Oversee the administrative aspects of training programs, including budgeting, resource allocation, and procurement of training materials.
  • Coordinate the scheduling and logistics of training sessions, ensuring optimal use of facilities and resources.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation, including enrollment, attendance, assessment results, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Stay informed on accreditation standards and requirements in collaboration with the Director of Education and Training and the Curriculum Specialist.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven experience in managing training programs (accredited or corporate).
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • High proficiency in project management and coordination.
  • Excellent communication skills: written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in the Information Technology or Finance sectors.

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional educational setting, requiring instructors to maintain a professional demeanor. The work environment is dynamic and necessitates effective time management and prioritization of responsibilities.

Physical Demands

This role requires the employee to stand for extended periods while instructing. To fulfill the duties, the instructor must be able to hear and speak. The job entails approximately 75% of time spent instructing and moving, and 25% on paperwork. The instructor should be capable of lifting files.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, on-campus position with standard hours.

Travel

This role does not involve travel.

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Finance, or a related business discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing training programs and instructors/staff.

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Experience in adult education and/or adult learning methodologies.
  • Background in curriculum design and development, including industry-recognized credentials.
  • Prior experience engaging employers in a training delivery system.
