Physical Therapist III

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a skilled Physical Therapist III to join our team. The successful candidate will provide clinical services to our patient population, demonstrating superior patient care and outstanding communication skills.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and provide physical therapy treatment programs for inpatients and outpatients, including evaluation, treatment, and prevention of disability, injury, disease, or other condition of health.
- Coordinate physical therapy programs with other healthcare personnel, such as occupational therapy and nursing.
- Direct and aid patients in gait training, isokinetic exercise, posture training, therapeutic exercise, joint protection, desensitization, edema control, muscle sensory reduction, and home program.
- Construct and/or supply splinting, adaptive, and exercise equipment.
- Direct and train patients in the care and use of assistive devices, prosthetic, and orthotic devices, including wheelchairs, canes, and crutches.
- Evaluate, record, and report patient progress for other members of the Rehabilitation team.
- Participate in patient care evaluation studies.
- Participate in the training of students in Physical Therapy from the Physical Therapy Program of the Stony Brook's School of Allied Health Professions, as well as physical therapy students and physical therapist assistant students of other affiliated programs.
- Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy or Certificate in Physical Therapy from an approved and accredited institution.
- New York State Physical Therapy Licensure/Registration or eligible.
- NYS License must be obtained within one year of employment.
- Demonstrated pediatric clinical experience for Pediatric Care.
- Demonstrated hand therapy experience for Hand Rehabilitation.
