Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Service Trainer to join our team at Generac Power Systems. As a Technical Service Trainer, you will be responsible for training and instructing technicians in all aspects of generator repair and installation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instruct and train technicians in generator repair and installation procedures.
  • Develop and present technical training curriculum to ensure technicians have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Write and review technical documentation, including owner's manuals, installation guides, and service bulletins, to ensure accuracy and clarity.
  • Establish warranty flat rates for new product prototypes and work with internal departments to fabricate training units.
  • Drive company vehicles (non-CDL) as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Manager Service Training.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of field technician experience in HVAC, automotive, generator, or similar discipline, or three years of combined field technician experience and technical training experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Experience in curriculum development.
  • Technician Excellence or ASE certification.
  • Previous experience using SAP or equivalent ERP systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Strong writing and presenting skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively.
  • Ability to develop testing plans and troubleshoot generator issues.
  • Technical aptitude to perform basic generator start-up and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with excellent time management skills.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and test equipment.
Work Environment

This position requires the ability to work independently under the direction of the Senior Manager Service Training. The employee will be required to stand and walk frequently, and may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel may be required.
