About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Planning Manager to join our team at Western Alliance Bank. As a key member of our Corporate Strategy team, you will play a critical role in driving the development and execution of our enterprise-wide strategic plan.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning: Assist in the development and execution of the enterprise-wide strategic plan, working closely with senior management to achieve proper planning of business initiatives aligned with our overall growth strategy.
  • Strategic Plan Integration: Oversee the integration of the strategic plan with extensive processes, including budget, operational risk, technology management, and process enhancement.
  • Strategic Priorities: Work with the Corporate Strategy team and senior management to determine strategic priorities for the Bank and identify recurring issues while mitigating risks.
  • Strategic Frameworks: Create strategic frameworks, roadmaps, templates, and advisory services to enhance and strengthen business initiatives aligned with our growth path.
  • Strategic Planning Working Group: Support the Strategic Planning Working Group to ensure consistency and alignment across senior management's direct reports in their strategic planning material development.
  • Strategic Planning Software: Support the implementation and management of our first Strategic Planning software, working cross-functionally with executive stakeholders to ensure execution of strategic plans.
  • Quarterly Business Review Meetings: Support the Quarterly Business Review Meetings to ensure alignment of KRIs, Execution Risk, Operational Plans, and financial planning towards our Strategic Plan.
  • Strategic Relationships: Maintain strategic relationships with peers across multiple business functions to ensure alignment of trends and strategies with those in the banking industry.
  • Strategic Execution: Act as a resource to enhance strategic execution by aligning cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality progress on the planning, presentation, and implementation of business initiatives.
  • Large Financial Institution (LFI) Expectations: Act as an advisor on LFI Expectations regarding Strategic Planning.
Requirements
  • Experience: 5-8 years of relevant experience through management consulting, strategy consulting, or internal strategic planning or corporate strategy within the Banking industry.
  • Skills: Experience driving large projects or initiatives from framing the problem, conducting research/analysis to building the business and operational plans through to driving execution to success.
  • Presentation Skills: Experience creating and presenting executive-level presentations for executive stakeholders while managing ambiguity throughout the creative process.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Experience with LFI Regulations and Enhanced Guidelines for Planning (Strategic, Operational & Capital).
  • Business Acumen: Entrepreneurial and proactive in identifying opportunities and solutions utilizing strong business acumen and analytical problem-solving skills to help inform decision-making for senior leaders.
