Director of Homelessness and Housing Services

The Department of Human Service Programs (DHSP) is a leading provider of human services in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for Cambridge residents by creating and coordinating services that address the complex needs of our community.
About the RoleThe Division Head will provide strategic leadership and direction for the City of Cambridge's efforts to eliminate homelessness and promote housing stability. This role will oversee the development and implementation of policies and programs aimed at addressing the root causes of homelessness and providing support services to individuals and families in need.
Key Responsibilities- Provide leadership and oversight of the City's homelessness and housing initiatives, including policy development, program planning, and budget management.
- Collaborate with community partners, including non-profit organizations, government agencies, and private sector stakeholders, to leverage resources and expertise in support of the City's homelessness and housing goals.
- Develop and implement data-driven strategies to address homelessness and housing instability, including the use of data analytics and performance metrics to inform decision-making.
- Supervise a team of staff responsible for implementing homelessness and housing programs, including case management, housing placement, and supportive services.
- Represent the City on regional and national forums related to homelessness and housing, and engage in advocacy efforts to promote the City's interests and priorities.
- Develop and manage budgets for homelessness and housing programs, including securing funding from federal, state, and local sources.
- Engage in community outreach and engagement efforts to build relationships with stakeholders and promote the City's homelessness and housing initiatives.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership role in human services, affordable housing, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in policy development, program planning, and budget management.
- Strong knowledge of community responses to homelessness and issues related to housing and income insecurity.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including community members, service providers, and government officials.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and priorities.
