Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health and Safety Specialist III to join our team at Kaiser Permanente. As a key member of our EH&S department, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing strategies and programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as organizational policies and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement EH&S programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate hazards and risks
  • Provide training and education to employees on EH&S policies and procedures
  • Investigate and report on EH&S incidents and near-misses
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements
  • Develop and maintain EH&S policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to employees and management on EH&S matters
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Natural Science, Engineering, Emergency Management, or related field
  • Minimum three years of experience in environmental health and safety, risk management, or directly related field
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to environmental health and safety
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Healthcare Environmental Manager (HEM), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or related certification
  • Experience with EH&S software and systems
  • Knowledge of business continuity and disaster recovery principles
