Position Summary: The Host is responsible for orchestrating and managing reservations for daily operations. This role involves warmly greeting guests upon arrival and departure, ensuring that the team delivers outstanding hospitality and a delightful dining experience. The Host will communicate effectively with management throughout meal service to facilitate smooth operations. It is essential for the Host to engage with guests honestly and respectfully, whether in person or over the phone. The Host will report directly to the General Manager and other Managers, and occasionally to the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs. Above all, the Host is expected to foster a positive work environment that aligns with the culture and values of Galit.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in genuine and friendly interactions with all guests while maintaining professionalism and courtesy, utilizing language as directed by Management.
  • Manage the reservation system effectively to organize and maintain the reservation template.
  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests upon their arrival and departure from the restaurant.
  • Ensure that the team consistently provides exceptional hospitality to guests.
  • Guide guests to their assigned tables, seat them, and provide menus.
  • Respond to general inquiries from guests regarding restaurant operations, including hours, menu offerings, restroom locations, and parking directions.
  • Handle phone calls at the main host desk or in the office with professionalism.
  • Build and maintain positive professional relationships with all staff, Chefs, and Managers through a collaborative and team-oriented approach.
  • Communicate effectively with Chefs, Managers, and Front of House staff to address guest needs and requests.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of the restaurant's floor plans and seating arrangements.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper attire at all times, adhering to uniform standards.
  • Comply with safety protocols and CDC guidelines regarding health and safety.


Qualifications:

  • Fulfill side work requirements as outlined by restaurant management for opening and closing shifts.
  • 1-2 years of experience in high-volume dining environments as a host or hostess is preferred.
  • Experience with the Resy reservation system is advantageous.
  • Proficient in conversational English.
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and interpersonal relations.
  • Highly responsible and dependable.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced setting.
  • Capability to work collaboratively with colleagues as part of a cohesive team.
  • Focus on guest needs while maintaining composure and courtesy at all times.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Proficient in addressing practical problems and managing various situations with limited standardization.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, and communicate effectively with guests and staff.
