Rigging Production Manager

Job Summary:

The Rigging Production Manager plays a pivotal role in achieving the sales goals of the business unit through strategic planning, coordination, and direction of all operations within the rigging production facility. This position supports all satellite rigging locations, driving growth in rigging sales and profitability through customer interaction. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interpret diagrams, measurements, and rigging terminology to assist customers and coordinate workflow.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff to ensure a high-performing team.
  • Oversee the daily workflow of the rigging production facility, ensuring efficient use of resources and meeting deadlines.
  • Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations, handling discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Recommend and sell the proper products to ensure complete rigging solutions for retail and wholesale customers.
  • Manage people, production, and the scheduling of outside work to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Work closely with store groups to increase awareness and train associates on rigging offerings and processes for placing rigging orders.
  • Ensure that all products produced and sold through Rigging Services are inspected for quality and will perform to the application that it is being built to.
  • Collaborate with buyers, assortment planners, and vendors to ensure assortments and in-stocks align with customer and production needs.
  • Continuously improve product knowledge through training, product education, and certification.
  • Use discretion in handling customer complaints, providing exceptional customer service.
  • Work with associates to achieve the business unit's sales plan, maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
  • Support all sustainability efforts throughout West Marine, adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Be available to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
Requirements:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with customers and team members.

  • Excellent sales and customer service skills, with a proven track record of driving sales growth and customer satisfaction.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, with the ability to adapt to new technologies and systems.
  • Must be able to interpret rigging diagrams, rigging measurements, and rigging terminology to assist customers and coordinate workflow.
  • Demonstrates advanced technical skills in Splicing and installation rigging duties in the shop and on marine vessels.
  • Must be able to provide transportation to worksites, with a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Must understand the proper ways to go aloft and be able to execute, with a focus on safety and compliance.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 years of rigging/management experience.
