The Accounting Department at California State University San Marcos is seeking a part-time instructor for the upcoming semester to teach ACCT 203: Fundamentals of Accounting for Managers. This course will be delivered in-person on the San Marcos campus.

Course Overview:

This course provides an introduction to the accounting information utilized by managers in making business decisions. The financial accounting segments will cover how organizations utilize financial statements to convey their financial status and operational results to stakeholders. The managerial accounting sections will focus on how accountants generate managerial accounting data for internal decision-making processes. Key topics include:

  • Financial Reporting Environment
  • Internal Control Systems
  • Financial Statement Analysis
  • Alternatives to Financial Reporting
  • Introduction to Tax Accounting
  • Accounting for Non-Profit and Government Entities

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree in Business and hold a current U.S. CPA License or U.S. CMA License, along with extensive professional experience in accounting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with a Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation, or a Master's in Business Administration with a focus on Accounting from an accredited institution will be favored. Experience in teaching at a four-year university or community college is also preferred.

Compensation:

Salary will be commensurate with the candidate's level of education and experience, with an anticipated hiring salary range of $5,007 - $6,359 per full-time month.
