Job Title: Environmental Scientist

Job Summary:

The Department of Parks & Recreation is seeking an Environmental Scientist to support the development and implementation of natural resources management projects, planning, and stewardship throughout the district's five units.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of natural resources management projects, planning, and stewardship throughout the district's five units.
  • Compile data, manage records, analyze results, and make recommendations for natural resources management throughout the district.
  • Plan natural resources projects and may serve as the liaison for regulatory permits for district projects.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations and policies.

Requirements:

  • Valid California Drivers License (CDL) required.
  • Background Investigation clearance required prior to appointment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions:

Work may occur in the field or office. Field work may occur outdoors in various types of weather or in unpleasant conditions. Work environment has exposures to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, nearby heavy equipment or traffic, and/or loud noises.

Special Requirements:

  • Valid California Drivers License (CDL) required.
  • Background Investigation clearance required prior to appointment.
