Environmental Planner II Job Description

AECOM is seeking an experienced Environmental Planner II to join our Environmental Planning Group in San Diego, CA. As an Environmental Planner II, you will work with our team to prepare environmental documents in support of local, state, and federal projects. Your responsibilities will include assisting clients and AECOM project managers in developing and reviewing California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents, as well as conducting research and preparing statistical reports on land use, physical, social, and economic issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist clients and AECOM project managers in developing and reviewing CEQA and NEPA documents
  • Conduct research and prepare statistical reports on land use, physical, social, and economic issues
  • Interpret and apply applicable government codes, ordinances, and regulations
  • Perform field inspections to gather data relevant to the development review process
  • Support public meetings and assist in preparing meeting materials and compiling meeting results
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Planning and Policies, Environmental Science, or Environmental Engineering
  • 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education related to environmental planning, conservation planning, and/or natural resources planning
  • Valid U.S. driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with local Southern California planning and resource agencies
  • Prior consulting experience
  • Familiarity with California Planning Law, CEQA, NEPA, federal regulatory and compliance guidelines
