Program and Fiscal Support Specialist

About the Position:

The Commonwealth of Virginia seeks a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to serve as a Program and Fiscal Support Specialist in the College of Engineering and Computing. As a key member of the departmental team, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the general administrative and fiscal department operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate departmental events and provide purchasing assistance to ECE faculty and department leadership.
  • Perform reconciliation for department expenses and travel, ensuring accuracy and compliance with university policies.
  • Manage purchasing for professor and student research projects and ECE 492/493 senior design projects.
  • Monitor and maintain departmental budgets, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Serve as primary liaison with the College Financial Team, Mason Fiscal Services, Travel Office, and GMU Foundation.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in procurement and processing financial transactions.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Knowledge of financial data analysis and budget monitoring.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Experience working in a higher education setting, particularly with financial responsibilities.
  • Experience with Mason Finance Gateway, Ellucian Banner, and MicroStrategy.
  • Knowledge of P-Card and travel expense reimbursement processes.
