Role Overview:

The Assistant Branch Manager (ABM) plays a pivotal role in delivering outstanding member services while assisting in the management of branch operations. The ABM ensures compliance with established policies and procedures and offers a comprehensive range of services to both current and prospective members. This position includes supervising, training, and nurturing branch team members, aiding in their professional development within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

The following duties outline the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this role, though they are not exhaustive. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary:

  • Ensure branch operations align with Credit Union policies and legal/regulatory standards.
  • Drive branch business development initiatives, expand the member base, and guide the team in promoting Credit Union services.
  • Support the Branch Manager in leading and developing the team to excel in a sales and service-oriented environment.
  • Communicate and achieve established team and individual performance goals for the branch.
  • Maintain accurate cash controls and ensure daily balancing of all branch transactions.
  • Oversee daily deposits in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the development, coaching, and guidance of team members, providing leadership through effective communication and regular performance reviews.
  • Ensure operational efficiency and high-quality work by assigning, directing, coordinating, and reviewing tasks.
  • Conduct periodic audits of cash and vault cash on the premises.
  • Keep members informed about Credit Union services and policies.
  • Coordinate branch operations with accounting, loan processing, and credit functions; manage expenses and seek cost-saving opportunities.
  • Assist the Branch Manager in preparing monthly sales reports.
  • Support branch activity reporting and provide improvement recommendations to management.
  • Process loan requests from various channels while adhering to loan policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate onboarding activities for new member accounts efficiently.
  • Step in for the Branch Manager as needed.
  • Monitor compliance with all applicable regulations, including BSA, CIP, and OFAC for all team members.
  • Perform related duties and cover branch positions as required.

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • Preferred college degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience totaling a minimum of three years; additional coursework in business or finance is advantageous.
  • A minimum of four years of relevant experience in a financial institution (Credit Union experience preferred).
  • At least three years of supervisory and management experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Credit Union services and products, along with an understanding of related legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with branch functions, policies, and procedures is essential.

Desirable Certifications:

  • IRA certification
  • NMLS certification

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, adapt to change, and efficiently manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Logical reasoning skills to assess strengths and weaknesses of various solutions and approaches.
  • Ability to engage with diverse personalities and populations.
  • Positive attitude and commitment to providing friendly service to both members and team members.
  • Capability to identify member opportunities for financial improvement and effectively communicate recommendations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • A valid California Class C Driver's License and a reliable method of transportation for job-related functions, along with minimum required automobile insurance coverage.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
