The Emergency Medical Technician responds to urgent and non-urgent medical requests, delivering exceptional patient care, treatment, and customer service in a prompt, professional, safe, caring, and cost-effective manner, adhering to established protocols and company policies.
Opportunities exist to work on a Critical Care Transport unit and participate in various Special Events throughout the region.
Events may include professional sports such as Baseball, Hockey, Football, Soccer, and Basketball.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
EMTs assess each situation to determine the best course of action and appropriate protocols.
Utilize medical equipment and procedures, including defibrillators, EKG monitors, oxygen and suction devices, intravenous fluids, CPR, and other necessary procedures and medications to provide advanced medical care.
Employ triage skills to ensure optimal efficiency during calls.
Deliver patient care in accordance with clinical protocols and safety standards.
Communicate with receiving facilities to obtain medical direction and relay critical information.
Engage with patients and their families to provide information and reassurance regarding the care being administered, demonstrating compassion.
Act as team leader and assume responsibility for scene and unit management as required.
Document all activities related to patient care and billing thoroughly to ensure accurate information is available for each call.
Read medication/prescription labels and instructions quickly and accurately.
Communicate verbally with patients and significant others in various environments to gather information from patients, family members, and bystanders.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid CA Drivers' License
- Ambulance Driver's License (issued by DMV)
- Medical Examiner's Certificate (MCSA-5875 and MCSA-5876)
- State of California PARAMEDIC license
- CPR Certification (American Heart Association ONLY, Health Care Provider. Handwritten cards are not acceptable)
- Completion of ICS courses.
- IS-100 (ICS 100)
- IS-200 (ICS 200)
- IS-700 (NIMS)
- IS-800 (NIMS)
- ACLS Certification (American Heart Association ONLY, handwritten cards are not acceptable)
- PALS Certification (American Heart Association ONLY, handwritten cards are not acceptable)
