Summary:
The Assistant Branch Manager (ABM) plays a crucial role in providing outstanding member services while assisting in the management of branch operations.
The ABM ensures compliance with established policies and procedures and offers a comprehensive range of services to both members and potential members.
This position involves supervising, training, and nurturing branch team members, fostering their growth within the organization.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The responsibilities outlined below represent the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities required, though they are not exhaustive. Supervisors may assign additional tasks as necessary. Ensure that branch operations adhere to Credit Union policies and legal/regulatory requirements. Promote business development initiatives within the branch, expand the member base, and guide the team in cross-selling Credit Union services. Assist the Branch Manager in leading and developing the team to excel in a sales and service-oriented environment. Communicate and achieve established team and individual objectives for the branch. Maintain accurate cash controls and ensure daily balancing of all branch transactions. Manage daily deposits in accordance with established policies and procedures. Support the development, coaching, and guidance of team members, providing leadership through effective objective setting and communication, including a minimum of monthly two-on-one sessions. Ensure high-quality work and operational efficiency by assigning, directing, coordinating, and reviewing tasks. Periodically audit MSRs cash and vault cash on the premises. Ensure that members are informed about Credit Union services and policies.
- Coordinate branch operations with accounting, loan processing, and credit functions; manage expenses and pursue cost-saving measures.
- Assist the Branch Manager in preparing monthly sales reports.
- Contribute to branch activity reports and make improvement recommendations to management.
- Process loan requests from all channels while ensuring compliance with loan policies and procedures using Meridian Link.
- Efficiently complete onboarding activities for new members' accounts using Meridian.
- Fill in for the Branch Manager as needed.
- Monitor compliance with all applicable regulations, including, but not limited to, BSA, CIP, and OFAC for all team members.
- Perform related duties and provide coverage for branch positions as necessary.

- A college degree is preferable or equivalent combined education and work experience of a minimum of three years; additional college coursework in business or finance is preferred.
- At least four years of relevant experience in a financial institution (Credit Union preferred).
- Three years of supervisory and management experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Credit Union services and products, along with an understanding of related legal and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with branch functions, policies, and procedures is required. Desirable certifications in the following areas:
IRA certified
- NMLS Other Skills and Abilities:
- Must possess strong interpersonal, leadership, and supervisory skills.
- Ability to prioritize, adapt to change, and efficiently manage a variety of tasks in a busy and dynamic work environment.
- Aptitude for using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse personalities and populations.
- Must maintain a positive attitude and provide friendly service to both members and fellow team members at the Credit Union.
- Must have the ability to identify member opportunities for financial improvement, communicate recommendations, and provide support.
- Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
- A valid California Class C Driver's License, a method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions, and at least minimum automobile insurance coverage as required by the State of California.
