Position Title: Lead Accounting Technician

Salary Range: $50,000 - $54,573

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM

Department Overview: The Facilities Division at NC State University is committed to maintaining a physical environment that supports the university's mission year-round. Our diverse team of approximately 900 professionals is dedicated to planning, constructing, and maintaining impactful facilities.

Position Overview: We are in search of a dedicated accounting professional to join our Capital Project Management team as the Lead Accounting Technician. This role encompasses overseeing budgeting and accounting functions, including the processing of requisition requests, pay applications, and invoices. You will ensure precision in data entries and reconciliations while fostering a collaborative work environment through effective communication and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage requisitions, purchase orders, and voucher requests for capital and non-capital projects.
  • Process invoices and pay applications efficiently.
  • Update financial records in relevant systems and spreadsheets.
  • Assist in project management and financial system enhancements.
  • Create project identifiers and manage project documentation.
  • Review and authorize vouchers, requisitions, and journal entries.
  • Monitor usage and expenditures, providing reports as necessary.
  • Address inquiries from vendors, staff, and project managers.
  • Maintain accounting records and produce financial reports.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of one year of relevant accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong customer service orientation and professional demeanor.
  • Meticulous attention to detail for accurate financial transaction processing.
  • Proficient in business writing, budget management, and accounting practices.
  • Effective verbal communication skills for interactions with supervisors and the public.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Progressive experience in the accounting field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software systems.

Licensure:

A valid NC Driver's License is required.
