Elmhurst University is seeking a Senior Vice President for Advancement Strategies.


This executive role reports directly to the President and is a vital member of the President's Cabinet, leading the strategic initiatives for the University's advancement efforts.

The Senior Vice President will oversee the alumni engagement initiatives, annual fundraising campaigns, major and planned giving programs, corporate partnerships, and the stewardship of donor relations.

This position is pivotal in nurturing a supportive environment among the University's diverse stakeholders and managing all activities and personnel within the Office of Institutional Advancement.

The Senior Vice President for Advancement Strategies will join Elmhurst University during a transformative period. KEY QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a successful history in advancement and alumni engagement.

The Senior Vice President will have experience in developing and implementing strategic plans aimed at maximizing financial support for both operational and capital projects.

They will collaborate with the President and the Board of Trustees to establish objectives and strategies for the University's advancement priorities and will be responsible for orchestrating the next major fundraising initiatives.


The successful candidate must possess strong leadership capabilities, including the ability to recruit, mentor, and motivate the Advancement team to achieve results.

A collaborative leadership style, exceptional communication skills, and a commitment to engaging the broader campus community in development activities are essential.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Lead the planning, development, and execution of comprehensive fundraising campaigns.

Ensure the annual operating support for the University is secured (Elmhurst Fund).

Design and implement strategies to maximize financial contributions for operational and capital needs.

Innovate and develop proactive approaches to identify and secure new funding sources for the University.

Engage personally with high-level donors and potential supporters through regular visits.

Develop strategies with key donors and ensure staff effectively manage prospect relationships.

Inspire and cultivate a high-performing Advancement team.

Establish policies, systems, and performance metrics to support departmental and institutional objectives.


Collaborate with the Board of Trustees and President to create and implement short- and long-term fundraising strategies, including capital campaign goals to secure funding for University priorities.

Foster relationships with campus partners to enhance alumni engagement, student recruitment, and fundraising efforts.

Oversee the donor development process, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

Promote best practices in fundraising.

Serve as a staff advisor to the Advancement and Trusteeship committees.

Represent the University at various social, service, and civic events.

Manage the overall division budget.

Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement.

Support the University’s mission, vision, and values.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree.

Seven to ten years of progressively responsible experience in higher education advancement or comprehensive campaign management preferred.

Willingness to travel, attend evening and weekend events, and maintain an active schedule of personal visits.

Proven track record of consistently achieving and surpassing objectives.

Demonstrated success as an inspirational leader and team builder.

Experience with relational databases/CRM systems and managing major gift prospect processes.

Ability to cultivate internal and external relationships with diverse constituents and mobilize volunteers.

Experience emphasizing collaboration, transparency, consensus building, conflict resolution, and problem-solving.

Excellent oral and written communication skills effective across various audiences.

Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree preferred.

Five years of relevant management experience in higher education advancement.
