Key Responsibilities:

The Assistant Controller at Crucial Learning plays a pivotal role in the organization by ensuring the precision and reliability of our financial reporting processes. This position is essential for upholding strong internal controls and adhering to regulatory standards.

The Assistant Controller will oversee daily accounting functions, prepare financial statements, and coordinate audits, thereby providing essential financial insights that support the company's strategic development and operational effectiveness.


Core Duties Include:

  • Financial Operations: Collaborate in strategizing and executing the company's financial operations, which encompass billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly closing processes within the accounting system - NetSuite.
  • Financial Reporting: Partner with the controller to manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes. Analyze operational closing procedures and implement enhancements to improve the efficiency and accuracy of these processes.
  • Internal Controls: Assist in developing best practice financial controls to ensure robust governance over all financial aspects of the organization, including banking, treasury operations, financial reporting, and payables.
  • Audits and Reviews: Engage and manage external accountants to conduct reviews or audits of the organization's financial statements.
  • Tax Compliance: Support the company in understanding applicable tax jurisdictions and ensure the timely filing of necessary tax returns.
  • Financial Analysis: Participate in the review of published financial reports, providing insights into variances from planned figures.

Qualifications:

  • CPA certification with 5-7 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a professional accounting firm or corporate environment.
  • Experience in developing and enforcing effective financial controls and corporate governance policies.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering accurate monthly financial close operations and comprehensive financial reporting packages.
  • In-depth knowledge and practical experience with GAAP financial standards (FASB and IASB).
  • Proficiency in accounting software, particularly NetSuite.
