Role Responsibilities

The Senior Corporate Accountant plays a vital role within the controllership team, tasked with ensuring precise and timely entries into the general ledger system. This position supports accounting operations, generates periodic financial reports, and maintains comprehensive accounting records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Integral participant in the monthly closing process, accountable for general ledger entries.
  • Prepare and review reconciliations for all Balance Sheet accounts and significant P&L accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP in all expense recognition policies through continuous assessment.
  • Guarantee complete and accurate recording of expenses and Balance Sheet entries.
  • Document general ledger activities, including expenses, payroll, accruals, prepaids, and fixed assets/depreciation.
  • Assist in data collection for monthly financial review meetings with executive leadership.
  • Conduct and review reconciliations for banking, balance sheet accounts, and major P&L accounts.
  • Support the annual external financial statement audit process.
  • Assist in managing compliance related to income tax.
  • Facilitate state and local tax preparations and payments.
  • Contribute to the budgeting process.
  • Help establish internal control guidelines, policies, and procedures for financial management.

Process Enhancement

  • Support initiatives aimed at reducing the closing period.
  • Assist in implementing systems and processes to expedite processing while ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Facilitate the segregation of duties in reviewing general ledger activities.
  • Support the implementation of accounting systems and integrations.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for major accounting processes.
  • Play a key role in cross-functional training among general ledger accountants.
  • Assist in creating accounting flowcharts for major general ledger processes related to Balance Sheets and P&L accounts.

Mergers and Acquisitions Support

  • Assist the management team with system, team, and process integration related to acquisitions.
  • Support OBS and valuation activities.
  • Provide assistance as needed during acquisition processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; CPA candidate preferred.
  • Proficient in financial data analysis and reporting.
  • Knowledgeable in payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
  • Experience in a private equity-backed company is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with efficient processes and technology utilization.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and technical accounting principles.
  • Excellent analytical skills, capable of performing financial and quantitative analyses; understanding of operational processes.
  • Proven experience in developing robust month-end close processes.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with all organizational functions.
  • Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration as well as independent work.
