Senior Manager of AI Evaluation Projects, TASP Center

RAND's Technology and Security Policy Center presents a unique opportunity for a Senior Manager. This position will support the AI Capabilities Evaluation (ACE) team at RAND in assessing the functionalities of advanced AI systems across various sectors. TASP is committed to evaluating the implications of significant, dual-use technologies—such as artificial intelligence and biotechnology—on global dynamics and security. TASP aims to create policy and technological strategies to bolster the competitiveness and security of the United States, its allies, and the global community.

Key Responsibilities Include

Strategic Operations Management: Oversee the operational planning and implementation of the ACE initiative. Administer budgets and timelines to ensure project milestones are met. Recruitment and Staffing: Collaborate with TASP directors, project leaders, and GRT to effectively staff and budget the ACE initiative. Communication and Publications: Partner with ACE project leaders to finalize and monitor products and publications through the quality assurance and publication processes. Event and Workshop Coordination: Design and execute ACE project events, liaising closely with RAND facilities and support teams. Manage subcontracts, independent service agreements, supplier contracts, and purchase orders.

Qualifications

Proven ability to build and lead teams comprising both junior and senior personnel. Demonstrated skill in navigating intricate organizational frameworks. Exceptional analytical skills with a focus on identifying and implementing strategic operational enhancements. Strong leadership capabilities, emphasizing diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a track record of developing diverse teams and promoting an inclusive workplace. Excellent communication abilities and the capacity to engage effectively with a broad spectrum of stakeholders.

Education

Minimum: Bachelor's degree; Master's degree preferred.

Experience

At least 8 years of experience, with a preference for 10 years.

Security Clearance

US Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance. While the ability to obtain clearance is preferred, it is not mandatory.

Salary range: $100,100 - $179,700

Project Manager III $100,100-$152,400

Project Manager IV $117,700-$179,700

RAND considers various factors when determining an offer, including but not limited to the specific role and associated responsibilities; a candidate's work experience, education/training, skills, expertise; and internal equity. The salary range includes base pay plus RAND's sabbatic pay (which provides additional compensation above base pay when vacation is taken). Additionally, RAND offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plans, paid time off, and more.
