Senior Manager of AI Capability Assessment (ACE), TASP Center
RAND's Technology and Security Policy Center is seeking a Senior Manager to oversee the AI Capabilities Evaluation (ACE) team. This position will facilitate the analysis of advanced AI systems across various sectors. TASP is committed to examining the implications of significant, dual-use technologies—such as artificial intelligence and biotechnology—on global dynamics and security. The center is focused on crafting policy and technological strategies to bolster the competitiveness and security of the United States, its allies, and the global community.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Strategic Operations Leadership: Direct the operational planning and implementation of the ACE initiative. Oversee budgets and timelines to ensure project milestones are met. Talent Acquisition and Management: Collaborate with TASP leadership and project heads to effectively staff and budget the ACE initiative. Communication and Publication Oversight: Partner with ACE project leaders to manage and track deliverables and publications through the quality assurance and publication workflow. Event Coordination: Plan and execute ACE project events, liaising closely with RAND facilities and support teams. Contract Management: Initiate and monitor subcontracts, independent service agreements, supplier contracts, and purchase orders.Required Qualifications:
Proven ability to build and lead teams comprising both junior and senior members. Demonstrated skill in navigating complex organizational frameworks. Exceptional analytical skills with a focus on identifying and implementing strategic operational enhancements. Strong leadership capabilities, emphasizing diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a commitment to fostering diverse teams and an inclusive workplace. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.Educational Background:
Minimum: Bachelor's degree; Master's degree preferred.
Professional Experience:
Minimum of 8 years; 10 years preferred.
Security Clearance Requirements:
US Citizenship is necessary to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance. While the ability to secure clearance is preferred, it is not mandatory.
Work Location:
Flexible work arrangements are available, including hybrid options. Fully remote work may be considered within the United States.
Salary Range: $100,100 - $179,700
Project Manager III: $100,100-$152,400
Project Manager IV: $117,700-$179,700
RAND evaluates various factors when determining compensation, including the specific role and responsibilities, a candidate's experience, education, skills, and internal equity. The salary range encompasses base pay plus RAND's sabbatical pay, which provides additional compensation during vacation periods. Additionally, RAND offers comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, life and disability coverage, retirement savings plans, paid time off, and more.
