Public Safety Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Safety Officer to join our team at The University of Chicago Medicine. As a Public Safety Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining a secure and safe environment for our faculty, staff, patients, visitors, and property.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate the work of public safety coordinators, including assigning tasks, observing performance, and providing feedback.
- Recommend discipline and participate in the hiring process for public safety coordinators.
- Evaluate public safety coordinators' performance, including quality and quantity of work, and schedule daily assignments.
- Perform communications dispatch functions, including monitoring closed-circuit television cameras and assigning incident report numbers.
- Monitor and respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, and communicate with University Police as needed.
- Direct and coordinate the public safety response to calls for service and alarms.
- Maintain radio contact with public safety personnel to ensure their safety.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Three to five years of experience in security or law enforcement required.
- Ability to complete IAHSS Certification Training Program within 90 days of employment.
- Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC) and valid driver's license required.
- College degree preferred.
- At least one year of experience in healthcare.
This is a full-time position working 8-hour shifts, primarily in the evening. The successful candidate will be required to work 100% at the Hyde Park campus.
