Job Summary

The Patient Access Representative plays a vital role in ensuring a positive experience for patients and families at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems. This position is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, managing patient registration, and coordinating clinical activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide quality customer service to patients, families, and staff
  • Manage patient registration, including scheduling and verifying patient information
  • Coordinate clinical activities, including environmental control and materials management
  • Assist with financial counseling and clearance as needed
  • Validate insurance eligibility and collect co-payments (if applicable)
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • Previous experience with computers, Microsoft Office, and internet navigation preferred
  • Ability to type 40 words per minute and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and experience with electronic medical billing/order entry/registration systems a plus
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a dynamic environment with frequent customer interactions. The ideal candidate will be able to adapt to changing priorities and work independently with minimal supervision.
