Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Representative to join our team at VCU Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients, families, and staff while ensuring accurate and efficient registration and scheduling processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide quality customer service to patients, families, and staff
  • Ensure accurate and efficient registration and scheduling processes
  • Coordinate materials management for the department
  • Assist in monitoring clinic activities and provide supervision of clerical activities
  • Handle all business functions in an assigned area, including reception, scheduling, and registering patients for appointments and/or procedures
  • Secure patient information, ensure registration data is correct and accurate, and validate insurance eligibility
  • Collect co-pay (if applicable) and assist with financial counseling and financial clearance, as needed
Requirements
  • High school graduate or GED
  • Previous experience with computers, Microsoft Office software, and navigating the Internet
  • Ability to type 40 words per minute
  • Previous work experience in a healthcare setting and knowledge of medical terminology (preferred)
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or closely related field from an accredited program (preferred)
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent and intense customer interactions. The incumbent must be able to handle multiple priorities, adapt to frequent change, and work in a noisy environment.
