Role Description

The Mechanic at Select Water Solutions is tasked with diagnosing mechanical issues and performing repairs and overhauls on equipment, both on-site and off-site. This role involves ensuring the operational efficiency of diesel machinery through inspections and preventative maintenance, addressing vehicle deficiencies, making necessary adjustments, and maintaining accurate records. All employees are expected to conduct their duties in a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible manner. Personal hand tools are required for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and reliability of the transportation fleet to protect employees, clients, and the public, including environmental considerations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of vehicles.
  • Review daily pre-trip and post-trip reports.
  • Address identified mechanical deficiencies.
  • Oversee scheduling and execution of major repairs.
  • Complete all necessary documentation accurately.
  • Maintain open communication with management regarding repair and maintenance status.
  • Uphold a clean and safe working environment consistently.
  • Manage maintenance equipment in both shop and field settings, including necessary calibrations.
  • Maintain an inventory of frequently used maintenance supplies.
  • Be available for on-call duties to respond to emergency repairs.
  • Control maintenance costs through effective use of warranties and vendor assessments.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license and eligibility to operate a company vehicle per insurance guidelines.
  • Experience in a dealership setting is preferred.
  • Proficiency in heavy-duty truck mechanics.
  • Experience with diagnosing and repairing diesel exhaust aftertreatment systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and diesel engine issues, including hydraulic, pump, and vacuum systems.
  • Experience with tractor-trailer maintenance.
  • Basic welding capabilities.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Knowledge of the oil and gas sector is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools.
  • Willingness to travel for off-site repairs.
  • Ability to utilize battery and charging system testing equipment.
  • Must pass pre-employment and random DOT alcohol and drug screenings, background checks, and driving record evaluations.
  • Relevant certifications and licenses.

Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed outdoors in various weather conditions, including rain, extreme heat, and cold, with exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Noise levels may require hearing protection.
  • Physical activities include prolonged sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
